Universal Geneve

Founded in 1894, Universal Genève is a historic Swiss watch manufacturer renowned for its innovative chronographs, elegant dress watches, and pioneering micro-rotor automatic movements. The brand was highly influential during the mid-20th century. Famous models include the Polerouter, designed by Gérald Genta, the Compax chronographs, and the Tri-Compax with its triple calendar and moon phase. Universal Genève developed its own in-house movements, such as the Calibre 281 chronograph and the Calibre 215 micro-rotor, highly prized by collectors. Its legacy is one of sophisticated design and significant horological contributions.

Pinion

A pinion is a small toothed gear component used throughout a watch movement to transfer motion and power between wheels. Pinions are essential for the gear train, winding system, setting mechanism, and other functions. They may be replaced when teeth, pivots, leaves, or friction surfaces are worn, broken, corroded, or causing poor movement performance.
