Orfina is a Swiss watch brand founded in 1922 in Grenchen by Roland Rüefli. Known for producing robust and functional timepieces, the company gained recognition from the 1940s onward for its water-resistant watches, chronographs, and practical tool watches.
The brand reached its peak in the 1970s through its collaboration with Porsche Design, creating the iconic Chronograph I—considered the world’s first all-black wristwatch using PVD coating. This model, powered by movements such as the Valjoux 7750, became a design milestone and was famously worn in films like Top Gun.
Orfina also produced military and pilot watches valued for durability and legibility. However, like many Swiss manufacturers, the company suffered during the quartz crisis and ceased operations in the mid-1990s.
